Why Do I Coach?

As many of you know, I became a single dad after a sudden bereavement 8 years ago.

At this time I was working in marketing / events and couldn't be the dad I wanted to be for my kids (who were then 10 and 12) and still work "on the tools" doing the hours that events demanded.

By the grace of amazing clients like Grosvenor , DMNdesignbuild and others, I moved into consulting.

It was during this time that I had the realisation that you don't change businesses (they are really just legal entities) but you can change people and those people change businesses....and then so much more.

But there was something else.....possibly through my own personal experience, I began to realise that pretty much every single human holds untapped potential. In part this potential is untapped through social context but to a larger extent it is untapped and unrealised because of our own deeply held, self limiting beliefs.....beliefs often so entrenched that we don't even realise their hold over us.

But how to crack this?

Telling? Teaching? Advising? Mentoring....all have their place but evidentially, none have the efficacy and stickiness of coaching.

⚡ But how to become a good coach? ⚡

So I went back to University to undertake a postgrad in Coaching; to truly understand the process, the psychology and the rigorous andragogy behind powerful and transformative coaching.

And now I get to do this every day....and I feel like the luckiest man to be able to do this work. Because every single one of us can achieve more; can become so self aware that seemingly unreachable goals CAN be attained and we can find joy and fulfillment where it once was lacking.

My wonderful kids are now 18, 20 and thriving.....and I to feel like I am just getting started. 😎
